Keaton Loses His First Tooth!

You can imagine that Keaton wasn't too thrilled about having been passed up by his younger sister in the race to lose their baby teeth. (Addy lost two this spring.) So Keaton was overjoyed when he finally lost his first tooth. He didn't even mind the little bit of blood that came when Dad pulled it out! (Believe me, that's a big deal for Keaton, who is...shall we say...squeamish!) He couldn't wait to hide it in his tooth box, inside his tooth pillow, under his real pillow--and find a dollar in it the next morning!

Yee-Haw, Keaton's Six!

Keaton wanted a cowboy party for his birthday this year, so we celebrated by playing "Pin the Blossom on the Cactus," a "Horseshoe" beanbag toss, and Sherriffs and Robbers tag.

Of course, every good cowboy needs a hat and a harmonica, so Keaton's brothers and sisters hooked him up.
Every cowboy needs a horse, but since this cowboy lives in a suburb, we figured he'd have to settle for...

...a new bike!

Perhaps everyone's favorite part of this party, was Keaton's "Cowboy Cake"--a Chocolate Cherry cake that we cooked in the Dutch oven. Yumm!

Addy Loses a Tooth...Literally

Addy was having her teeth cleaned at the dentist when her very first tooth fell out. Of course, she was thrilled to hide it under her pillow and find a dollar waiting when she woke up the next morning. Well, about a week later, she lost another one, and to her dismay, somehow she literally lost it. She was distraught, thinking she was going to miss out on her visit from the tooth fairy since she couldn't find her actual tooth. I told her that I was sure the tooth fairy would understand, and she'd probably come anyway.

About an hour later, she emerged with this note, which she proudly wrote all by herself:

And you know what? It worked! The tooth fairy came that night and left a dollar under her pillow. Miracles do happen!
