All Good Things Must Come to an End

It was Keaton's turn for a date with Mom today. (Each Saturday morning we trade off taking the kids on one-on-one outings. It's become one of our favorite traditions. It's no wonder, really, since one-on-one time is pretty rare otherwise!) We went to a community fair at the Civic Center that was full of vendors with handouts, food samples, and all kinds of goodies. One of the best parts was a big display of snakes from the Idaho Herpetological Society. Keaton thought that was pretty cool. So what should he choose when we visited the face-painting booth, but a snake, of course. He was so proud of his snake, and wore it with pride everywhere we went for the rest of the day. When bedtime rolled around, he was devastated to learn that it needed to be washed off. We're talking completely beside himself with anguish. The only way I convinced him to let me wash it is by telling him that we could take some pictures so he could see his snake whenever he wanted. I somehow managed to get him laughing as I snapped his photos, but you can see the tell-tale tears streaming down Mr. Snake. Well, 'tis better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all!
